Characters: 09/19-09/25 Missing Applications

Some of you may be wondering what is going on with Characters. Two of the batches have been processed, then there seemed to be an unusual amount of people whose applications seem to have never been received. This, of course, had many of us on staff wondering what was going on. So after some digging through backups it seems that the batch of applications from Sept 19 – Sept 25 never got to me during the Characters staff changes. This means those applications, many of them in regards to the Sept 19th characters troubles removal, were never sorted into the batches.

First of all, sincerest apologies to both the applicants and the Characters staff. We don’t know how this happened, to err is human, but we are sorry none the less. With about 200 applications hanging in the balance, we didn’t want to send off an “I’m sorry” email and let it go at that. It didn’t seem fair. After some thought and a bit of discussion with Danielle, we have come to the closest possible “fair” solution.

Each of the individuals recently approved for the subjects affected by this dilemma have been emailed with a request. Each have been asked to consider dissolving their approval and including their application with the missing applications for that subject for a round two approval process. Each individual is not being forced to do this — despite the circumstances, taking back approvals also did not seem fair. So there is no guarantee that the subjects affected will go up for a round two approval. However, we hope that this will not be the case and that many will take the time to consider the circumstances and be willing accept the request.

This “missing apps round two approval” request only affects subjects in the recent #-F and M-R batches. There is a Friday deadline for responses either for, or against the request. Applications for the affected subjects have been frozen, meaning applications for these will not be accepted — only the missing apps are to be included, please do not apply for them. The G-L and S-Z batches will be processed shortly, as will the missing #-F and M-R subjects not affected by approvals. A status post will be made on Friday.

While this situation is resolved, applications will continue to be sorted and approved in half month increments as planned.
